An evolving HR Manager making evolutionary changes

Employee growth fuels Eltwin’s. And for Malene Darre, HR Manager in Denmark, her professional journey is a testament to that.

At the height of the COVID-19 lockdown, Eltwin’s leadership team asked Malene — a Key Account Manager in the organization for 14 years — if she would take on an important new role: HR Manager. “With more than 100 employees, the organization was ready for a dedicated HR manager. And being grounded after years of frequent travel — along with the opportunity to evolve my role — I immediately accepted the new responsibility,” says Malene.

With no prior HR training but over a decade of experience on the frontline of Eltwin’s business growth, Malene dove straight into a strategic training program and works closely with various departments.

“It’s important to us that we ensure every single employee, regardless of age, is visible and prioritized at Eltwin.”

Motivated by boosting employee retention — especially amid a competitive employment landscape — in 2021, Malene launched one of many initiatives: a new senior pension scheme. The scheme states that once an employee is 62 years old, they get an additional five days of annual paid holiday, plus the option to reduce working hours by 20% each week and still receive 100% of their full-time pension payment.

“Our employees cover a broad spectrum of age, background, and specialties — and I think organizations often overlook employees 60 years or older. It’s important to us that we ensure every single employee, regardless of age, is visible and prioritized at Eltwin.” This strategy is intended to support the longevity of employees — as a sign of support to those just beginning their professional journey and those who are advanced in their area of expertise.
